Teachings and Meditations for the Journey of Self-Realization Be yourself. Simple advice - or is it? What does it mean to be oneself fully? How do we discover and live the truth of who we are in our essence? In The Self in Full Bloom, Mukti presents six sessions of deep inquiry and guided meditation intended to support embodied awakening - or the pure expression of both our human and our divine natures. Dancing with the Energetics of Awakening The process of awakening involves dynamic and receptive energetics that color our experiences from moment to moment. Through more than seven hours of teaching, Mukti eloquently describes the dance of these masculine and feminine qualities, illuminates the subtle challenges and gifts inherent in each, and points us to their ultimate union in our own unique expression of the wholeness that is already here. "There is an aspect of you that is not at odds with itself," teaches Mukti. "That part of your nature that expresses harmoniously all the facets of what you are." The Self in Full Bloom will help you firmly root yourself in the ground of being while you flower fearlessly in alignment with the whole of life. Introduction by Adyashanti. 1. Language: English. There's a sayin' that if you come from my part of town, that you're from around the way. Around the Way Girls 4 is a look at the life of some street-smart women who think they have the world in the palm of their hands but are about to find out that things aren't always what they seem. For talented artist Jovia Grant, life has gone from one extreme to the other. Being raised by a single mother living in a lavish home, her much-needed break from home comes when she is accepted into a summer art program where she rediscovers old friends and meets a few new ones. In "Thug Passion", La Jill Hunt, Essence magazine best-selling author, brings in the drama as these two worlds collide and Jovia's family discovers that she has been learning more than art. In "All for Love", Dwayne S. Joseph weaves a dramatic tale of love and betrayal. After the turmoil she suffered in her 20 years, Rayne is thankful for the safety and companionship given to her by her boo Love. Unfortunately for Rayne, the drama and heartache are about to come back into her life in a major way when she finds out she is pregnant with Quincy's baby. In "All About the Money" by Roy Glenn, it truly was about the money for Jada West. From dancing at the best club to becoming the city's top madame, whatever it took to make piles of paper, that's what she was about. In this tale of power and money, Glenn bring a different flavor to this around the way girl as Jada discovers that, in the end, there is something more important than money. 1. Language: English. The Gospel According to Tim , Hörbuch, Digital,...

What’s there left to say about Tim Tebow? He’s brilliant and appalling, inspiring and annoying - a straightforward young man who somehow played and prayed his way into being the most enigmatic figure in American sports. In the essay-length Kindle Single "The Gospel According to Tim", Joseph Bottum argues that Tebow strikes a nerve because he has slipped beyond all the usual categories of our wink-and-nudge culture of irony. And he’s done that mostly by being simply who he is: not a football-playing theologian but, in essence, a mystic: "Isn’t that what everyone who has met Tebow does? Believe in him, I mean: believe that he’s for real. The young man is drunk on charity, in the same way he’s drunk on the endorphins that race through his body during his strenuous daily workouts. In the same way he’s drunk on the excitement of winning and losing football games before roaring crowds. In the same way he’s drunk on what the medieval mystics used to call 'the gift of tears', weeping easily and often. In the same way he’s drunk on his constant conversation with the Lord, referring all his victories and all his losses up to heaven. "Tim Tebow isn’t a Christian theologian. He’s a Christian mystic - intoxicated, as all mystics are, with God. He’s King David, dancing in the joy of his youth before the Ark of the Covenant." Joseph Bottum, a writer in the Black Hills, is the author of the best-selling Kindle Single "Dakota Christmas". He is, the essayist Andrew Ferguson has written, "one of America’s most gifted writers, with a perfect ear and a matchless style". 1. Language: English. Narrator: Brian Troxell. The Firefly Dance: Four Novellas About Growing ...

Bright lights flicker in the dark evenings of summer. Pinpoints of hope float against the black descent of night. The sweetest of small and innocent creatures finds its way through the shadows. Fireflies seem to dance on sheer air, illuminating the space between heartbeats. Children give off a similar brave glow, despite the challenges of their young lives. The lessons of childhood are often painful, the shedding of fragile wings in the gloam of an uncertain future. These rich novellas are small jewels reflecting the essence of what it means to grow up dancing among the shadows of life, carrying a brave, small beacon because you know that even the brightest days always, always, end in darkness. Childhood can be so sweetly sad and sadly sweet, profound and deceptively easy to categorize, yet poignant to remember. New York Times best-selling novelist Sarah Addison Allen (Garden Spells, Sugar Queen, The Peach Keeper) anchors The Firefly Dance with her wistful and funny novella about Louise, a North Carolina girl whose keen observations of the lives around her weaves an unforgettable spell with just a hint of everyday magic. Phyllis Schieber's Sonya, a child of Holocaust survivors, is confronted with the responsibilities of her legacy when she has a poignant encounter with a classmate, another child of survivors, and her mother, in a local shop in their 1970's New York neighborhood. Kathryn Magendie's Petey deals wryly with her family's move from the cool blue mountains of North Carolina to the hot flatlands of Texas. Augusta Trobaugh's stoic Georgia girl leads us through her surreal encounter with a mysterious backwoods toddler who turns out to be anything but ordinary. 1. Language: English. Jitterbug Perfume

A round-Robbins on the themes of scent, so-called "floral consciousness," and immortality - skipping through time and space, but offering a little old-fashioned storytelling charm along with the usual cute/hip doodling. In one of the two parallel plot-lines here, Robbins juggles the separate attempts of various parfumiers around the world to come up with a perfume (upon a jasmine base) that will outenchant any previous concoction: Madame Devalier in New Orleans is feverishly experimenting; so is her adopted daughter Priscilla in Seattle; and the megs-company LeFever is also hard at work in Paris. Meanwhile, in the other main plot, we follow King Alobar - a Dark Ages hero - through his global wanderings: he eventually reaches India, meeting a widow named Kudra; both of them are in flight from Death; and both eventually, through the direct intervention of the decrepit god Pan, actually achieve immortality - even learning how to capture the immortality-essence in bottled-liquid form. So ultimately, of course, these two plot-strands will link up - as Alobar time-travels up to the present, providing the evolutionary missing-link to "floral consciousness". . . and teaming up with a Timothy Learylike outlaw scientist, Dr. Wiggs Dannyboy, who adds a bit of new-age theory to Robbins' usual flower-power rhetoric. ("Philosophers have argued for centuries about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, but materialists have known all along that it depends on whether they are jitterbugging or dancing cheek to cheek.") As in all of Robbins' novels, there is much that's juvenile and insufferable here: terminally cute asides and many, many groaners - e.g., "a populace that was beginning to put Descartes before des horse." Still, the mundane/exotic enterprise of making perfume offers a rich basis for Robbins' half-credible, half-cartoonish explorations. And, thanks to its lively sweep through time and geography, this may be his most agreeable book ever: relaxed, readably sequential, goofily lyrical - with some feather-weight appeal for non-fans as well as the usual Robbins readership. Sean-Nós Song

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Sean-nós is a highly ornamented style of unaccompanied traditional Irish singing. It is one of various sean-nós activities, which also include sean-nós dancing. These forms of Irish dance and song have been documented by ethnomusicologists. The tradition of sean-nós song was exclusively oral, and remains customarily so. However a few songs were known to have been conveyed to script as early as the 16th century. A songbook for Elizabeth I contained English interpretations of sean-nós songs. Songs started to be more extensively written down in the eighteenth century, and distributed in print from then on. New composition is a controversial issue within sean-nós song circles. Some singers insist that the traditional should be supplemented with new material, arguing that since society has changed, then the content of the lyrics should reflect this also. On the other hand, some singers say that only the older, "traditional" songs represent the essence of sean-nós song and that therefore deserves a protected, preferential status.

Uncovering the Essence of What Animates Us Bene...

This book is a phenomenological study in which I endeavour to uncover the essence of what animates us beneath the dance by investigating the lived experiences of bodily perceptions generated while dancing. I present four perspectives to illuminate this essence. In my first perspective, I offer literature from a variety of phenomenologists, dancers and choreographers which substantiate vital and spiritual perceptions generated while dancing. In my second perspective, I conduct an autobiographical inquiry and recollect my childhood experiences of dance. In my third perspective, I present an historic narrative about the lives of my dance mentors Gertrud and Magda Hanova which is of significant historical importance for dance history to Vancouver. In my fourth perspective, looking through the lens of phenomenology and drawing on performative inquiry, I present textual reflections written by grade four students, which explore the children's dancing experiences. In conclusion, I stress the need to return again and again to the dancing body in order to experience revitalization and renewal.

Redefining Dionysos
99,95 € *

This book contributes to the understanding of Dionysos, the Greek god of wine, dancing, theatre and ecstasy, by putting together 30 studies of classical scholars. They combine the analysis of specific instances of particular dimensions of the god in cult, myth, literature and iconography, with general visions of Dionysos in antiquity and modern times. Only from the combination of different perspectives can we grasp the complex personality of Dionysos, and the forms of his presence in different cults, literary genres, and artistic forms, from Mycenaean times to late antiquity. The ways in which Dionysos was experienced may vary in each author, each cult, and each genre in which this god is involved. Therefore, instead of offering a new all-encompassing theory that would immediately become partial, the booknarrows the focus on specific aspects of the god. Redefinition does not mean finding (again) the essence of the god, but obtaining a more nuanced knowledge of the ways he was experienced and conceived in antiquity.
